Too old to sing? Never!
Have you always wanted to learn how to sing but have not started taking singing lessons because you felt that you’d left it too late? I’m here to tell you that it’s never too late to start singing and there is no such thing as an ideal singing age!
Kids as young as 8 or 9 can be taught the to sing beautifully. Sure, singing training must be adjusted later on to avoid damaging their voices during the changes of puberty. Any qualified singing coach will be able to give advice in this regard.
And don’t think just because you didn’t start singing coaching as a child that it’s too late to benefit from singing lessons now. You might be surprised to learn that some people even sing better as they age. But even if this is not the case for you, don’t be put off. There is no denying that there are many physical changes in our body as we age. It’s clear that our muscles will lose both flexibility and strength. However, too often we make “age” the culprit – or the excuse, if you will.
Bear in mind that even young people can have voice or physical conditions. So although there are certainly things we will never be able to do as well as we once did, it is certainly never too late to learn and have fun. It is never too late to do activities that inspire us and make us energetic and vibrant. It is never too late to learn and develop. Although many professional and semi-professionals use the Bristow Voice Method, there are just as many beginners who use the program. Since it is all about developing awareness and taking you from where you are to where you want to go, your level or age is really irrelevant. {At the end of the day, old or young really is just a state of mind.} Singing is one of life’s great pleasures that really has no age limit, unless of course you judge yourself to some limiting ideal. You owe it to yourself to let your voice be heard.
